The mission of Fruitful Fertility is to facilitate one-on-one connections that are personal between individuals newly diagnosed with infertility and those who have already completed their infertility journey. Our services (“Services”) include but are not limited to:

  • The Fruitful Fertility One-to-One Matching Program which helps individuals newly diagnosed with infertility connect with mentors who have experienced infertility firsthand.
  • The Fruitful Fertility mobile app
  • The Fruitful Fertility blog
  • The Fruitful Fertility electronic newsletter, “The Fruit Basket”
  • Fruitful Forums
  • Fruitful Fertility events
  • And anything else we might develop

Fruitful Fertility is committed to responsible information handling practices. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) applies to Fruitful Fertility’s collection and use of personal information and non-personal information that Fruitful Fertility (“FF,” “we” “us” or “our”) may obtain when you contact us, visit our website (“Our Site”) or use our Services. In this Policy, we sometimes refer to individuals who visit Our Site or use our Services as “you” and “your.”  We refer to newly participants seeking help in our One-to-One Matching Program as “Mentees,” and to those offering support to Mentees as “Mentors.”

By visiting Our Site or using our Services, you consent to the information practices described in this Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect personal information to provide our Services as well as some non-personal information about visitors to Our Site. We use the term “personal information” to mean (1) information that can be used to determine, distinguish or trace an individual’s identity, such as name, e-mail address, address, phone number, age, and (2) any other information that is linked or linkable to an individual, such as medical and employment information.

We collect personal and non-personal information in the following ways:

Personal information you give us: We may obtain personal information about you ONLY if you elect to give us that information. We may request personal information to provide you our Services, enable you to purchase goods or services available on Our Site, or make a donation online. Types of personal information we may ask you to provide may include the following:

  • Name
  • Zip code
  • Country
  • Telephone number
  • E-mail address
  • Mailing address
  • Credit card number and expiration date (for online purchases or donations)
  • Infertility diagnosis

To participate in our One-to-One Matching Program, we ask you to complete an application online which includes some of the above personal information. If you apply for our One-to-One Matching Program, to help us determine if you can participate and pair you with a Mentor or Mentee, we may contact you to request additional personal information including but not limited to, verifying that you are over 21 and confirming that you have been diagnosed with infertility. We may collect feedback, including personal information, from Program participants and others who apply for or use Fruitful Fertility Services to help us improve and tailor our Services to meet your needs.

Please note that the provision of personal information to us is completely voluntary. You are not required to provide your medical or other information if it makes you uncomfortable. If you do choose to share your information, you must remember that we are not health care providers, which means that we do not have the same obligations, capabilities, or privacy practices as your local health clinic or hospital. That said, we will honor our obligations in these Terms and will maintain the privacy and confidentiality of your information.

Non-personal Information we may collect: We may also collect information or data in a form that does not by itself permit us to associate it with any specific individual, which we treat as “non-personal information” in this Policy. For example, we may collect information regarding visitors to Our Site to help us provide more useful information to visitors and Program participants, and to understand which parts of Our Site and our Services are of most interest.

Cookies and Other Technologies

When you visit Our Site, we use “cookies” to authenticate and maintain your login for the duration of your current and future visits. A cookie is a data file written to a computer’s hard drive until it expires or you remove it. If you do not want us to send cookies to your browser, you can use your browser options to reject cookies or notify you when a website tries to put cookies into your browser. If you reject cookies, there may be features of Our Site and Services provided on Our Site that you cannot use.

How We Use the Information We Collect

We use personal information collected online to best provide and administer our Services, enable making a donation or purchasing a product from Our Site, and provide information, such as sending marketing communications and newsletters. Fruitful Fertility will retain and use your personal information for the purposes for which such personal information is collected.

Disclosure to Third Parties

Fruitful Fertility may need to share personal information with third parties in limited circumstances. For example, we may provide personal information to third parties to perform services such as informing you about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, fundraising and partner-related product opportunities benefiting Fruitful Fertility, fertility-related information or processing credit card payments or maintaining or hosting Our Site or content available on Our Site.

However, such third parties are obligated to maintain the confidentiality of personal information and are not authorized to use personal information for any purpose other than providing those services.

It may be necessary for Fruitful Fertility to disclose your personal information if we determine that law, legal process or litigation requires disclosure. We may disclose your personal information if we deem it necessary in order to comply with a legal obligation, enforce the Terms of our One-to-One Matching Program, or to protect our rights or the rights of a Program participant.

Security Measures We Use to Protect Personal information

We take your right to privacy and the security of your personal information very seriously. We take reasonable measures to safeguard and protect your personal information from unauthorized access. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings. Fruitful Fertility uses Secure Socket Layers (“SSL”) and Transport Layer Security (“TLS”) encryption protocols to protect personal information that you transmit to us on Our Site. We use reasonable security measures to protect personal and non-personal information that we maintain on servers, including technology, physical, and administrative security measures. Further, all personal information considered highly sensitive, including but not limited to passwords and medical history are stored using the latest encryption standards as specified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). 

Regarding Teens and Individuals Under Age 21

Individuals under Age 21 are not eligible to participate in Fruitful Fertility’s One-to-One Matching Program.

Your Opt-Out Choice

If you have applied or registered for our One-to-One Matching Program or other Services, Fruitful Fertility may from time to time send you promotional information about our Services that we think you may find useful. If you wish to opt-out of receiving promotional mailings or email communications from us, you may do so by clicking on the unsubscribe link in our e-mail communications to you. Please note that opting out of receiving promotional mailings or email will not affect your receipt of service-related or transactional communication via mail or email in accordance with the Terms.

Your Data Protection Rights Under The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the EEA, you have the following data protection rights:

  • If you wish to access, correct, update, or request deletion of your personal information, you can do so at any time by contacting us.
  • In addition, you can object to the processing of your personal information, ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information, or request portability of your personal information. Again, you can exercise these rights by contacting us.
  • You have the right to opt-out of marketing communications we send you at any time. You can exercise this right by clicking on the “unsubscribe” or “preferences” links in the footer of any emails we send you.
  • Similarly, if we have collected and processed your personal information with your consent, then you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
